Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)
for Residential Substance Abuse Program
Position Overview:
The Behavioral Health Tech (BHT) ensures the provision of a safe and therapeutic environment, interacting in a warm compassionate manner and promoting person served achievement of treatment plan goals and objectives.
Reports To: Operations Supervisor
Hiring for the Following Shifts:
- 1st Shift: 7am – 3pm
- 2nd shift: 3pm-11pm or 4pm – 12am
- 3rd shift: 11pm – 7am
Qualifications Required:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- 1 year of experience working with addictions/mental health
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude
Qualifications Preferred:
- 2 years’ experience working in addictions/mental health residential facility
- Working toward Behavioral Health Tech Certification or Certified Associate Addiction
Essential Duties:
- Oversee persons served taking medication
- Responsible for monitoring all activity of person’s served throughout the facility
- Report concerns to clinical staff
- Utilize appropriate behavior modification techniques to teach desirable behavior
- Conduct security and safety checks
- Conduct urinary analysis when necessary
- Document activities and behavior patterns
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Computer literate
- Good communication skills
- Leadership skills
- Must be a team player
- Must be able to work with a diverse population of people served and staff
- Must be an independent thinker
Physical Requirements:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed
to move objects.
